Dear Flip Flops, I will never cheat on you with my snowboots! XOXO

16-18-26  Definitely not my measurements!  But the forecasted temperatures for the next three days, and it doesn't look any better in the near future.  Oh! and did I mention the 3 - 4 inches of snow on the ground?  What to do?  What to do?

Three words:
PREOCCUPY-PREOCCUPY-PREOCCUPY!

Thaw your feet and fingertips with thoughts of spring.  Yesterday, I wandered over to my seedlings!  Engulfed in excitement I saw my Chamomile, Calendula, Sunflowers, Brussel Sprouts and Broccoli beginning to peek their heads out of their little dirt wombs!  Are any of your seeds cracking and veering their lovely green sprouts??

The energy of new life begins a new thought!  The garden!  Time to plan phase two of the garden. What will I plant where?  How will I create a border?  Stone or mulch? Any thoughts??

If you notice, my first emerging seedlings are a few flowers which I use in soap making (Chamomile, Calendula, Sunflowers)!  Time to research oil infusions!  I have never used Calendula in soap, but I know the powder makes a wonderful yellow that is amazing for dry skin- which we are all just about chapped to the bone- Hmmm??? How to dry and ground!  I am beginning to think these cold days are a blessing so I can prepare and be successful.

Switching gears to the
TWEEN INVASION!!

When we first moved here, one of  my husbands first amazing feats of carpentry was a two story playhouse for my children.  My son claimed the top and my daughters claimed the bottom.  We quickly worked to paint the inside pink and purple.  Moved the play kitchen outside. Added a white rocker to the porch and Voila! Pretty Playhouse it was!

Well now my son is 13 and my daughters are slowly moving beyond the days of playing house.  As I wipe my tears away at the thought of my babies not being babies anymore - we decide to remodel.  We have spent hours on Pinterest growing ideas for the Tween Invasion!! (Feel free to follow the board or send me suggestions!) This entire remodel will be featured in a series of Blogs and Vlogs following the TWEEN INVASION!!  Stay tuned!!

As you see many things are in the works.  The winter is not simply a time of freezing feet and numb noses.  It is a time to slow down, think and plan.  And if you are anything like me, someone who dives in with two feet first, it might be an answer to our silent summer prayers: slow down, think, plan.  Perhaps not the one we are looking for, but an answer nonetheless reminding us:
we are not in control of everything
we cannot rush nature
we must learn to slow down.
So once again, the Summer Gods have made an appearance and assured me that this is much needed time to ensure a successful season in a summer baby's world.

I Love You Because...

Give your children a “Heart Attack” this Valentine’s Day!
Check the original blog out here!

I pin a million things on Pinterest...sometimes they come to fruition, sometimes not.  The "Heart Attack" not only came to fruition, but is now an awaited tradition.

Last year I started an AWESOME Valentine's Day tradition.

Starting the first day of February, I create a paper heart for each day until Valentine's Day.  The heart reads, We Love You Because... and I fill in the blank with a characteristic, emotion, trait, etc. - things that we love about each of our children.  I tape it to their doors so when they first wake, they can see why we think they are great!
